The Kappa lota Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated solicits your help in finding talented college bound African American male high school seniors to be considered for our annual Colonel Charles Young Scholarship Awards. The chapter prides itself on assisting young college bound African American male high school seniors through its scholarship program. Last year, Kappa Iota Iota awarded over $7,000 in scholarships to six deserving young men on the Hampton Roads Peninsula. Please help us by providing the scholarship requirements to your seniors. Our Annual Colonel Charles Young Scholarship Banquet honors one of America's outstanding military officers by awarding scholarships in the name of three fallen military brothers of Kappa Iota Iota Chapter. Colonel Charles Young was the third African American man to graduate from the U. S. Military Academy at West Point. His legacy of determination and perseverance in the face of bigotry and racism serves as a shinning beacon amongst the men of Omega Psi Phi. He rose above the attitudes of his time to become a successful officer, father and husband.
The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded in 1911 at Howard University in order to promote the social development and academic achievement of African American men. Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift are the Cardinal Principles that serve as the fraternity's underpinning. In keeping with the Cardinal Principle Scholarship, our Annual Scholarship Program promotes academic excellence and potential among college bound African American male high school seniors. Students interested in applying for the scholarship must provide the following information to the scholarship committee by 6 May 2010.
