Brother Michael B. Fleming was born in Salisbury, North Carolina and is a graduate of E.E. Smith Senior High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After high school he attended Norfolk State University where he earned a BS Degree in Mass Communications and later earned a Masters Degree in Material Acquisition Management from Florida Institute of Technology. In the spring of 1979 while attending Norfolk State University, Bro Fleming pledged Pi Gamma (Pure Gold) Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc, where he served in numerous chapter leadership positions. After graduation in 1981 with a degree in Mass Communications he was commissioned as an 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and served 24 years before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Acquisition Corps. Throughout his military career, Bro, Fleming has been an active member of the fraternity. He was a member of Gamma Beta, Lambda XI, Nu Nu, Chi Tau, Omicron Iota Iota, and is a current member of Kappa Iota Iota. Bro Fleming has held many tough and demanding jobs throughout his military career however two jobs are very dear to his heart. The first was his tenure as Director of Contracting for 3rd Army ARCENT-Kuwait. Bro Fleming was instrumental in building a positive relationship with Kuwaiti Armed Forces and 3rd Army ARCENT chain of command. Due to his guidance and direction, ARCENT was able to fully train and support the Kuwaiti Armed Forces. The second job he is most proud of is his DCMA Kuwait command time. Bro Fleming was an integral staff member for the US Embassy in Kuwait. A person of great compassion and hope, Bro Fleming quickly learned from his time in the Middle East that Middle Easterners are very much like Americans and aspire to the same family goals as we do. Upon retiring from the military, Bro Fleming became the Division Chief for Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Ft Eustis VA. Bro, Fleming has worked on many chapter committees, and notably served as Vice Basileus of Kappa Iota Iota for a span of two and half years. He recently was awarded 2009 Kappa Iota Iota Superior Service Award. Bro Fleming is an avid motorcycle enthusiast, a member of the Omega riders club (“Hawg Dawgs”), and a charter member of the Columbus Buffalo Soldiers in Columbus, Ohio. Through both of his organization affiliations, Bro Fleming strives to support his local community and the community in Ohio.
