HomeMay 2010 (Scott Wilson)

Brother Wilson is a shining example of service, commitment, brotherhood and embodies the true Omega spirit. He considers his top four priorities to be faith, family, helping people, and having fun at your work. Scott is a man the chapter leadership calls upon when they have unique or challenging missions that require strong leadership, meticulous attention to detail, and professional results.  He is energetically pursued by the Executive Council, committee leadership, and members in the chapter because of his reputation for putting in vital work and producing exceptional results.

Scott was born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina to Edgar and Julie Wilson, the youngest of two sons.  He spent his formative years growing up in Baltimore, MD and later moved with family to Randallstown, MD to complete his high school education.  Upon graduation, Scott attended Hampton University (then Institute) and graduated with the class of 1985 with a BA in Psychology.  Scott also was commissioned in the Army as a Quartermaster Officer and was soon off to various assignments over the next 22 years to include Korea, Fort Ord, California, Washington DC, Fort Leavenworth, KS, Germany, Honduras, and Fort Monroe, Virginia.  He retired after serving as the Professor of Military Science for Hampton University, the very program through which he was commissioned.  Amongst his awards and decorations, Scott is proudest of the Distinguished Order of the Saint Martin for an exceptional career as a logistics officer.   Scott presently works for Capstone Corporation as a military analyst supporting United States Joint Forces Command.

Scott is a talented dancer and instructor and is regarded the top Latin Dance instructors in the Hampton Roads area.  He teaches and has performed as a member of a professional Salsa dance team, Clave Tumbao.  He as well has trained, competed, and taught international ballroom, a style in which he recently won 1st place in the Carolina Classic Competition in 2009 in each of the six dances of Foxtrot, Tango, Waltz, Samba, Rumba, and Cha  Cha.   Scott currently teaches dance part time and has often helped newlyweds choreograph 1st dances, as well as train dance teams to perform throughout the Hampton Roads area.    He also recently earned his certification as a Personal Fitness Trainer through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.

Scott has been extraordinarily active in the fraternity since his initiation through Omicron Iota Iota Chapter in 1999.  Since then he has served in an Executive Council position for the majority of his time as a Brother and has held one or more committee chairmanships in each of his 11 years in the Fraternity.  He has been awarded the Omega Man of the Year Award for each of his respective chapters in 2000, 2005, and 2009.  He has been a Col Charles Young Award Recipient as well. He presently serves as the Keeper of Records and Seal for KII chapter, marking the 7th time in 11 years that Scott has been elected and served on the Executive Council.

Brother Wilson’s contributions to the Fraternity, Chapter, and community reflect his humble yet ambitious and giving spirit. His credibility comes from the fact that Scott has always made himself available to friends in need, and most importantly, a brother who follows through on his word.  Quick to act and one who can be counted on when there is important or urgent business at hand, Scott remains one of our most enthusiastic, professional, a devoted brothers.  He as well is a devout family man who embodies Christian manhood.   Scott credits meeting and marrying the former Nelly Aquino Ramos in 1990 as the smartest decision he’s ever made.  Nelly and Scott are the proud parents of three children; Ricardo (23) the Army Second Lieutenant, Julian (18) the college freshman, and Ashley (17) the high school senior.  The family resides in Chesapeake, Virginia and are long standing members of the Western Branch Community Church in Chesapeake, Virginia.
