Ulysses Brown (UB) was born in Macon Georgia, the oldest of three sons to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses Brown Sr. He graduated from Southwest High School, where he lettered in four varsity sports. Brother Brown attended Fort Valley State University where upon graduation, he was commissioned in 1978 as a United States Army Infantry Officer. As a loyal soldier, he has served over 27 years and as a testament to his endurance, skill, leadership, and dedication to this nation. As a senior officer, UB served as well as Chief of Strategy, Chief of Joint Doctrine, and Chief of Strategy, as well as numerous other operations and leadership positions throughout his career. Fittingly, the distinction with which he served earned him the promotion as a Colonel given a history of stellar performance in command at every level from Platoon through Brigade. While in service, UB went on to earn two Master’s Degrees, one Masters in Administration from Central Michigan University, and as well from the US Army War College, Strategic Studies. He is married to Mrs. Ina D. Brown and they reside in Chesapeake.
UB crossed the burning sands in to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc 2008. When asked his reasons, he responded “I am of the strong opinion, Black men, especially those educated must give back to the community from which we come.” He demonstrates daily as a brother of Kappa Iota Iota Chapter his loyalty and advocacy for the principle that we are our own keepers, and hold the transition of knowledge for those coming behind us. Within KII, UB is currently serving as the Interim Vice-Basileus for the past five months. He as well has chaired Mardi Gras Committee which profited over $8000 for scholarships. He has served as co-chair of the Young Men of Distinction Program which provide mentorship to school aged boys attending South Morrison Elementary School. He has been quick to serve our community in all regards as evidenced by his support for Relay for Life, Feed the Homeless, and all other “Uplift” activities. Another hallmark achievement was the fact that he has spearheaded a pivotal and historical achievement in KII by leading in the development, research, and establishment of the Friends of KII Foundation. This foundation will make it exponentially easier for the chapter to seek promotion and support of its charitable works in the community, and will make significant strides in solidifying the relationship with community leaders and servants throughout Hampton Roads. .
UB’s hobbies include working on old cars, and as well he has a certain affinity for sports cars as anyone who has seen his corvette can attest.
He is married to Mrs. Ina D. Brown, and they reside in Suffolk, VA.
